Allia Ogden, MS, BCBA
Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst
Connecting with Families and Creating a Positive Impact
Allia Ogden is a Chicago-based, Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst who has provided individualized direct ABA therapy since 2010. Allia believes in helping individuals with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) learn functional and meaningful life skills. Allia also strives to teach families how to create a safe environment along with the skills necessary for everyone’s success.
Allia found her passion for behavioral therapy and teaching early on in her career when she volunteered in recreational programs for high school kids with special needs. After beginning college, Allia began independently helping families and their children with ASD in their homes and in the community. During her college tenure while volunteering in classrooms with all types of diverse learners, her main role was to co-teach alongside classroom teachers. Here Allia began to explore how various methods of evidence-based practices and instruction could affect learners. She considered herself to have the fun part of the job. Playing games, while supervising and other recreational activities with students to promote their own development.
In 2010, Allia found the field of ABA Therapy, and began applying her love of science and education. As an ABA therapist, Allia has a personal touch when she helps children learn. She adapts to the skill level of the child by modifying curriculum or the task to be completed to be appropriate for the those receiving services. She continues to use this model of therapy with adaptive techniques that each child can apply independently and uniquely. Allia’s individualized approach helps her connect more closely with those she helps.
““No matter the child, we can find ways to connect with them. From creating art together, playing games, or while spending time together, I find ways to relate with the children I help. I really like to get to know the family members and important people in the child’s life to understand everyone’s needs. This personal connection lets me get to know the person I am caring for, and I can use my professional teaching skills to make a positive impact on everyone’s life.”
